Toyota intouduces the all-new Prius Plug-in hybrid

Leaps forward in the evolution of electrified performance and style

Toyota's all-new Prius Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle represents a significant leap forward in the evolution of electrified performance. With a distinguished history of innovation, the third generation of the Prius Plug-in offers unparalleled fuel economy, emission efficiency, and enhanced electric vehicle EV driving capabilities. The latest model boasts a sleek, coupe-like design, making it both a practical and visually appealing choice for modern drivers.

Two versions of the Prius Plug-in are available: Design and Excel. Both are powered by a 2.0-litre plug-in system that incorporates Toyota's fifth-generation hybrid electric technology. This advanced powertrain delivers an impressive 220bhp 223 DIN hp/164kW, a notable improvement over the previous model's 121bhp 122 DIN hp90kW. This ensures robust and responsive acceleration. The vehicle's 13.6kWh lithium-ion battery provides an EV driving range of up to 53.4 miles, which is sufficient for most daily commutes. For longer journeys or when charging isn't feasible, the hybrid system comes into play with a combined WLTP CO2 emissions rating of just 12g/km, making it an excellent option for company car drivers who aren't ready to switch to a fully electric vehicle.

In terms of design, the Prius's iconic wedge shape has been refined to feature more elegant lines and a lowered overall height by 50mm. The roof peak has been moved rearwards, and larger wheels, up to 19 inches, have been adopted, creating a striking coup-like silhouette. The vehicle's wheelbase is 50mm longer, although the overall length has been reduced by 46mm. The rear of the car features a distinctive three-dimensional linear lighting element that draws attention to the Prius logo.

Inside, the Prius offers a spacious and meticulously designed cabin with high-quality materials and a layout that emphasizes both style and functionality. The Design model, priced at £37,315, includes key features such as 17 inch alloy wheels, smart entry, rear privacy glass, the Toyota Smart Connect+ multimedia system, and a comprehensive suite of safety and driver assistance systems. The Excel model, priced at £39,955, upgrades to 19-inch wheels and includes additional luxury features such as eight-way power-adjustable front seats with memory settings, integrated heating and ventilation, a digital rear-view mirror, and a power back door. Both models are available for configuration on the AVC website, making it easy for drivers to tailor their Prius Plug-in to their specific needs.
