Happy Friday, guys and gals! Today I am very happy because:
a) I am leaving at 12!
b) It is sunny and not pouring down like the weather forecasts would have had us believe (sorry if I have now jinxed this!)
So, are you enjoying this bout of extended hot weather? Here are my survival tips to help you through it...
Us Brits get confused with sunshine as we don't usually have it, so we can't really cope with it when it does actually happen. Enjoy it, folks - don't worry about the lawns!
Remember that we can't cope with any sort of extreme weather. At all. So, don't moan that it is sunny when it could be a whole lot worse (it could be raining or even worse, snowing).
Remember our four-legged friends, both in cars and when they are out and about. I saw someone walking their dog past our offices just now in this blazing heat - hot pavements can cause terrible burns to their paw-pads; walk them earlier in the morning or when the pavements have cooled down in the evening. Of course, don't leave a dog in a hot car for any length of time and if you do see one in this position, get help immediately.
Stay safe and use your sun-factor. Stay in the shade whenever possible and don't overheat - drink plenty of water (that's the sensible Tony speaking here).
Wear glasses too with protection, not ones that look cool but don't actually shield your eyes effectively from the sun's rays. Aviator ones always work for me, I get mistaken for Tom Cruise all the time as you can imagine (it's a hard life).
Remember that somewhere near you there will be a beer garden. Do anything to get there first in order to secure the best seats and rope in an unwitting pal to go to the bar for you so that you don't have to queue in the heat. Sorted!*
Look forward to the next instalment of #TonySays, folks, and have a great weekend!
